Day 64 (End Cruise) - Airports

So today was basically a day of traveling. We got out of our rooms before 8 to eat one last meal at the restaurant on board before getting our passports and heading to our meeting place to disembark. Right when we arrived at the theater, our group was called and we followed everyone as they filed out to shore. We had a small scare in finding our luggage that was "checked" because we shared a suitcase with Johanna, but Kelsey and I were the ones in charge of it. This basically meant that we didn't know the suitcase by sight very well and it was only by looking at every silver suitcase that we found the right one. We were just about to go out to the city when we were stopped by one of the security people who were selecting people at random to go through customs checks, so instead of just going out, we had to go through a very short (thankfully) line to have our luggage X-rayed.

When we finally got out to the parking lot, we found the bus that would take us back to the Milan Airport so we could catch our flight back to Bonn. It was a 2 and a half hour drive, but the pretty scenery and the riddles we told each other made the ride go much faster. I even took some more pictures that I missed on the way down. When we got to the airport, our plan was to check our bags even though our plane was in 7 more hours so we wouldn't have to stress too much. Instead, we discovered that our airline's ticket booth was completely closed and wouldn't open up until 4 for the 5:30 flight (not ours). We were a little disappointed at this news, but we went to eat and enjoy the free wifi in the airport. At 4, we wandered over to the booth, but they still wouldn't check our bags until 6:30 because our flight was at 8:30. So we waited at the airport, eating either pizza or McDonald's depending on our preference.

 Isn't Savona pretty?
 The architecture is just stunning

At 6:30 we finally met up with Johanna, who caught a train instead of the bus, and got our luggage checked so we could get on the plane. Remember how I said our plane was leaving at 8:30? we didn't start boarding until 15 min before then, so all of us were a little bit concerned when no one was getting on the plane at first. Luckily, everyone got on board and we enjoyed our short flight across 3 different countries back to Bonn. When we grabbed our luggage and walked out, we saw our housing coordinator Hilde who was kind enough to pick us up from the airport. She drove us home and I spent some time finishing things for A&M before going to sleep.
