Day 54 - talking with professionals

So today was a mostly average day, but it'll serve two purposes, which is why I'm writing. First, today is the last day I'll be posting until either late next Sunday or early te following Monday. This is because I'll be in the awesome Mediterranean cruise. To get there, I'll be in Milan beforehand, and Kelsey's mother graciously offered to drive us to the airport early Saturday morning. To make things easier on her, we'll be having a sleepover at her house so she doesn't have to drive to 3 different places. Since I don't have wifi access there, that means no update. I don't know if I'll have wifi at the hotel, but if I do, the post for that day will be text only because I'm not bringing my computer, so I can't get my pictures to a spot online. There's just no need to bring my computer when there will be no wifi and I won't really need it.

Now onto today. It was rather normal with the only notable exception being the desperate working on homework due tomorrow that absolutely no one fully understood. We had a signals class that was a continuing of the review we started last time. Tomorrow we have a quiz in that class, but I think it's in teams and it's open note, so it won't be too bad...hopefully. Then was a little bit of time while the BIMS majors had their class, and I used the first half of that time to remake the model of the socket that was destroyed because people didn't know that it was still needed. The second half was spent trying to do homework. After that small break, we dived right into Physiology for about an hour or so because we started late.

When that class was done, we only had a half hour to go find lunch because we were meeting with one of the engineers from Otto Bock with some clarifying questions about the prosthetic that we're making for them. It was very informative and showed us that we were not thinking completely in line with what they wanted, which is good because it allowed us to regroup and come up with a better design that they actually want. Tomorrow we were going to represent our sockets with the same format as yesterday, but we recognized that we were spending too much time on the presentation part and not getting the engineering concepts across very well. So instead, we're getting two slides about our design and will discuss the design, not what's currently being used or why this is important, but explaining why our product will work. Then we can discuss with the class about the best parts of each design and bring them all together to make a better end product. I hope it goes well.

After that, I went home and ate with my host family and hung out for a while before they had to go to bed. Tomorrow is the last day before I go away to tour around southern Europe and North Africa, and I'm so excited!! Again, I will not be able to post or reply to anyone's comments until either late next Sunday or the following Monday.

Have a great Spring Break!
