Today was not so much early as just difficult to start. The beds at our hotel were so nice! Anyway, Kelsey and I got ready for the day and went down to the continental breakfast for all the hotel guests. It was absolutely delicious and had a wide array of breakfast foods to choose from. After breakfast, we still had a little but if time to get everything ready before we needed to get on the metro so we could get to the bus to the airport. We spent some of that time going to the store to get last minute supplies for the cruise and by the time 10 came around, we were back at the hotel. We finished out last minute packing and were on the metro before our Milano cards expired.
Actually, we got on the metro at the exact right time. When we tried to give the machines our tickets to sign out of the transportation area, they rejected our tickets and would not allow us out. We ended up just following a family as they walked out through the large terminal specifically for families with strollers. The people saw us, but they didn't seem to care because we were leaving. At the central station, we found the Milano express to the airport and got on so we could meet the representative to Costa Cruise and get to the ship. We got to the airport with about 20 min to spare, but we became a little worried when we realized we didn't know exactly where to meet. Luckily, we met our representative at the arrivals gate and were told where we were meeting. At the meeting point, we met the other group who were waiting for the bus to come and pick us all up. We talked for a little bit and when the bus came to pick us up, we sat in the back and watched the countryside go by. It was pretty cool to see the old ruins as they passed and to take quick snapshots.
And then we saw the mountains. It was so pretty and we went right through the middle of them. There was this adorable little town right in the middle of the valley and seeing the floor so far below us and the tops of the peaks riding up above us made me feel small in my place in the world. The road twisted and wound around the peaks to the sea, giving us a picturesque view of the sea with a seaside city framed by the peaks of the mountains. It was so pretty. Unfortunately, we didn't print out luggage tags, but it was alright because our representative took care of us and printed out the tags, then reassured that all we needed to have on us was our passports and boarding information. It took a while to actually board the ship because we were a part of the last groups to board. Once we were on, we settled into our cabin and put everything away before the mandatory safety meeting. Thankfully that didn't last too long and we had a little bit of time to explore the ship for a while before our dinner at 6:30.
We rode through these mountains...
...and came to this city/beach 5 min after getting out of them.
Italy is just so pretty!
Look how great this sunset is! My camera didn't quite capture the beauty, but it's still pretty
Dinner was awesome. We met two of our table mates from Seattle and we talked for a while during a wonderful dinner. The two guys that were a part of our group were a little disappointed at the portion sizes, but I was very happy with the meal that I chose. After that it became a large game of "figure out what was on each floor" for the four of us and we discovered a lot of cool things. Things like you can't actually get to the front of the boat (I was sad) ad that they have a water slide/jacuzzi on the top floor. When we got back to the room, we were all so tired an decided to cancel our plans to go to karaoke that night in favor of sleep. In fact, I was so tired that I fell asleep while we were still talking in the fully lit room. Yeah...I was really tired. I don't remember much of what happened next, but half of our room left to I do something else while the two of us left behind got ready for bed and went to sleep in record time.
